no flies on this one!

Following on from my post about the Eglu when I couldn’t quite believe that chickens could live in such luxury, I feel the need to draw your attention to the fact that it’s not only chickens who are pampered…nope there’s a whole world of kitty luxury products out there also…it’s amazing what you can find on the web these days!

Littermaid Litter Boxes from who else but Littermaid are the cat’s answer to flushing toilets.  No more will the cat have to return to a dirty litter tray to do its business when left alone all day.  No longer will the cat be forced to reject the tray and find the nearest carpet to pee on instead, and no longer will the cat’s owner be forced to scrub the carpet after a long hard day at work; because folks, when they arrive at the litter tray it will already be clean…every time!

The idea is quite simple really…you need to use clumping cat litter (not the cheap supermarket own brand stuff) such as Littermaid Premium Clumping Cat Litter which forms hard lumps when it gets wet or dirty.  The unit sets a timer when the cat leaves the tray and, after ten minutes, it rakes all of the hard clumps into a container at the end of the unit.  The container can either be sealed and binned or cleaned for reuse.

As far as I can tell there are benefits a-plenty of the Littermaid Litter Boxes, some of which are:

  • The cat will always have a clean place to do the toilet so won’t have to go in search of other locations around the house.
  • The owner will spare themselves the trouble of finding the cat’s little “presents” all over the house…sometimes after a hard day at work when all you want to do is sit and veg.
  • The unit only needs to be emptied every week or so meaning the owner has more time for the more enjoyable things in life.
  • Because only the dirty litter is removed, less litter is needed, saving money in the long term.

Littermaid Litter Boxes come in a variety of sizes and vary in their levels of extravagance…from the bog standard (pardon the pun) LM500 to the Littermaid Mega models (suitable for multiple cat households) and the top of the range LM9250.  The basic model features automatic raking and can work on batteries or mains power, whereas the LM9250 features automatic raking, battery or mains power supply, carpeted ramp, privacy tent, and automatic ionic air cleaner…surely your cat deserves only the best!

All models are available from Littermaid and through their selected retailers, a list of whom can be found on their website.
