Last year I dabbled in the raw food diet for a few months and felt fantastic for it…and then I fell off the wagon in spectacular style. The main reason for my interest in the first place was the fact that I was consuming inordinate amounts of sugar in the form of jelly beans and piling on the weight like I was about to go into hibernation. I’m not all that ashamed to admit that my first foray into this way of life was wholly unsuccessful. I lost a lot of weight and now almost 6 months later I’ve put it all back on again…I believe it’s known as yo-yo dieting in some circles.
It’s been a rather long winter here and the availability of fresh fruit and veg in our local supermarket is limited to say the very least during the winter months. With the advent of Spring this weekend and more than a little encouragement from the emailed newsletter I had subscribed to all those months ago I’ve decided to give it another go.
So, tonight I spend a greater than I would have liked proportion of my salary on fresh fruit and veg and prepared myself a rather scrummy salad for lunch tomorrow (as opposed to the usual cream cheese on crackers, two packets of crisps and two packets of sweets…seriously!) I’m determined. I need to sort out my eating habits before I end up killing myself with malnutrition.
Co-incidentally, I’m back at the hospital this week for another Schilling Test. For those readers who have pernicious anaemia this will make sense…for everyone else….I need to piss in a bottle all day and then take it back to the hospital for analysis…nice! All this just to prove that I don’t have the pernicious anaemia that I was diagnosed with 12 years ago.
There are some new additions to the household too…and none of them are doing much to help plug the gaping holes in the walls <sigh>
First there’s Beryl…you can read all about her entrance to the household here

Then there’s Veronica…I had an inspirational moment on the motorway last week and this is not at all what I had in mind! I still think she looks pretty good for a first attempt at a softie…inspired somewhat by KittyPinkStars. Apparently the kids like it…I don’t!

Last but not least there’s the amigurumi…somewhat addictive to make and definitely popular with small children. Iona loves to put them in small places and then proclaim that it’s law-ost!

Hi j,
I did not realize you were connected to Alasdair! Most cool. Love the little yarn guys, by the way. As to your Test, at least you have a bottle to pee in
Let’s hope no one mugs you for it on your way to the hospital.

Thank Grit. Just to clarify is it most cool that I’m Alasdair’s wife or is it most cool that I waste away my hours making junk to fill up the house…hey actually maybe I could plug some of the holes in the walls with the amigurumi!
Hi j,
The wife thing mostly. Also, if the yarn things work well at plugging wall holes, let me know as I have a barn with a roof that needs some serious leak prevention
