take note

It is with great regret that I’m going to have to come over all stern.  You see somebody has stolen my work and published it as their own with no reference to me…this is NOT NICE.  I won’t boost their site rating by providing a link…needless to say it’s a crap site and I am MAD!

So for the benefit of those who wish to pilfer my words…

…you may provide a link to me if you like my work, actually please do, I would love you to.

…you may copy my work IF you state that it is my work and provide a link back to my blog.

…YOU MAY NOT steal my work and pass it off as your own for the sole purpose of driving traffic to your site because you have such a sad life that you can’t think of anything of your own to write.  If you are this sort of person might I suggest you check out the daily news…there is often a plethera of humorous stories to write about; surely you have an opinion on something.  Actually just to clarify you may not steal my work and pass it off as your own for any purpose…it’s just plain bad manners.

  1. Bastards, complete bastards … what is the world coming to!

I know how you slavishly stoop over your writing board, pencil clutched between your nearly numb fingers with the strain of thinking up thoughts to put in your wondrously amusing and insightful blog.

I can’t believe that some inept little vacuous twerp would rip off your respendent site in an attempt to inflate their own lack lustre and largely deflated omnipotence.

As I said bastards … but then I know who these people are. And I’m going to do something about it …

  2. What’s with all the big words Alasdair? You could have just called them thick!

  3. Why be obtuse when you can verbose, sweetie ;)

  4. Because they won’t understand you…far better to be straight to the point with ignorant people.

  5. Hi Jolene, I recently discovered my work on an American celebrity website. The world has gone mad! They must have their own things to write about, and there is little about celebrities on my blog. All very strange. People out there are getting paid to do nothing.

  6. Hello there, I can’t even remember how I got here (I could hit the “back” arrow up there and I’d know, but I’m lazy.), still I got here, and read this and, well, I know this won’t be of any consolation to you, but the same thing happened to me a few months ago. Apart from my silly personal blog, I run another blog on architecture, and, as I said, a few months ago I discovered some little nobody copying and pasting my stuff – writings, images and everything – into her blog, passing my work off as hers.
At first I asked her to please add credits to the stolen stuff – once, twice, three times (I’m polite and very patient.); then, still receiving no reply from her, I just exposed her to public ludibrium on my architecture blog (I’m polite, patient, but even my patience runs thin after some time – and I’m not linking to that blog entry here as, well, my blog is written in Italian, so there’s no point of linking to that, I reckon… :) ).
Then, and only then, she decided to reply – and guess what she said? She claimed she didn’t do that on purpose.
Now, imagine this: someone highlights an entry on somebody else’s blog, presses ctrl+c, then ctrl+v on her own blog editor, then presses “publish”.
And then claims she didn’t do that on purpose.
    Yeah, sure.
And, oh, look, there’s a donkey flying up in the sky.
131 comments to that blog entry finally made her close her blog – which wasn’t what I wanted her to do, I only wanted her to give credit to me for *my* work, but she preferred closing her blog to crediting other people. Shame on her.
So, all this babbling is just to tell you that, sadly, this kind of people are quite common on the internet (and to them you should add blog-bots which automatically copy posts, too, dunno for what reason, honest…) – and off the internet, too, which is even worse sometimes…
(bugger, I meant to be positive but this ended up sounding like “ah, blah, the whole world sucks!”…)
Anyways, I think you don’t have to worry – as people who just copy and have no original thought of theirs to share can’t go very far in life – it’s them the losers. :)

  7. Hi Giorgia, so true, so true.

    Thanks for stopping by.
